Clinical supervision for therapists
Supervision that gives you room to think
Integrative supervision . Online across the UK, or in person in East Kilbride and Strathaven.
How I work
Supervision should be the time in your month where you can say the thing you've been carrying around. The case that's getting under your skin. The session you're not sure you handled well. The client you've started to dread.
I trained as an integrative supervisor and as a therapist my client work is CBT and Compassion Focused Therapy. I utilise trauma-informed and somatic thinking where it's useful.
What you can expect from me
Honesty with kindness. I'll tell you what I see and I'll do it in a way that helps you learn rather than leaves you feeling exposed.
Your agenda first. You bring what matters. I'll help you shape it, but it's your time.
Reflection, not a checklist. We'll look at your clinical work and at what's going on for you as the person doing it.
A steady hand on the serious stuff. When risk, safeguarding or ethics come up, we'll work through it properly and you won't be left holding it alone.
"Good supervision makes you a better therapist. It should also make the work feel less lonely."
Who supervision with me is for
I work with qualified practitioners only.
Newly qualified therapists
The course has ended and the safety net feels thinner. We'll work on confidence, clinical judgement and finding your own way of practising, rather than the textbook version.
Experienced practitioners
You know what you're doing. You might want a fresh perspective, a supervisor who understands private practice, support with accreditation, or a space that doesn't feel like a box-ticking exercise.
All supervision is one-to-one.
What you can bring to supervision
Clinical work and case conceptualisation
Making sense of a client's presentation, building a working formulation and thinking through what to try next when you feel stuck.
Ethics, risk and safeguarding
Working through ethical dilemmas against your professional body's framework, assessing and managing risk. Knowing when and how to act on safeguarding concerns.
You, as the therapist
How the work is landing on you. Countertransference, the clients who stir something up and the early signs of burnout before they become a problem.
Professional growth
Developing your style, deciding on further training, building or growing a private practice.
Accreditation and admin
Logging hours, preparing for BACP accreditation, supervisor reports and the paperwork that comes with being a registered practitioner.

About me
I'm Rachel McCormick, a BACP Accredited CBT practitioner and founder of McCormick Counselling Ltd. I've been in private practice for 7 years, working with high achievers experiencing anxiety, stress and burnout.
Before becoming a therapist, I spent ten years in global finance leading teams. That taught me a fair bit about what helps people grow under pressure, and what doesn't. I bring some of that into supervision: clear, supportive and focused on helping you thrive within your client work.
I trained as a supervisor at Counselling tutor, and I've been supervising since 2023.
